Rugby World Cup champions South Africa have confirmed that they will face Italy in a two test series in mid 2025.
Last facing the Azzurri in Genoa two years ago, when the Springboks claimed a dominant 63-21 victory but have not faced the Italians on South African soil since 2013.
During that one off test in Durban in 2013, the Boks would emerge victorious 44 – 10.
In total the two nations have faced each other 16 times with South Africa winning 15 whilst Italy’s lone victory came in 2016 when they triumphed 20 – 18 in Florence.
Although Italy have not enjoyed a strong record against South Africa they are fresh off their best Six Nations to date and are buoyed by a young and talented squad.
In addition to the Italian tests, the Springboks are expected to host a tier two nation in the same window in a similar vein to their fixture this season with Portugal which came after their two test series against Ireland.
Securing a tied series with Ireland at one match a piece, the Boks will be looking to go one better next season and secure a sweep of the Italians.
Venues for the fixtures have yet to be confirmed with this year’s tour test matches taking place in Pretoria, Durban and Bloemfontein.
